New Home to Siskiyou Artisans Gallery & Gifts
Larson’s Home Furnishings Now Home to Siskiyou Artisans Gallery & Gifts
Bruce Larson knows the ins and outs of the appliance, electronics, and furniture business. As a second-generation owner of Larson’s Home Furnishings located at 213 S. Fir Street in downtown Medford, Bruce has seen a lot of change over the decades. “I’ve been in this business most of my life,” Bruce said. “We’ve recently added a complete Flooring Gallery [Larson’s Home Gallery] and Consignment Furniture Department [Consign and Design], where we accept and sell gently-used furnishings.”
Being in business since 1945, Larson’s has become a fixture in downtown Medford. “We have some employees that have worked for us for up to 19 years,” Bruce said. “We have experience in all areas of furnishing your home. We can help you select flooring, cabinetry and appliances at a low price guarantee.”
Larson’s is constantly changing its look and selection to stay current with the times to meet customers’ expectations. “We have survived all the recessions since 1945—that’s almost a miracle,” Bruce added.
The latest change at Larson’s is the inclusion of Siskiyou Artisans Gallery and Gifts, formerly located in the Rogue Valley Mall since 1999 and owned by Andy Huffman and Raquel Seibert. The Gallery and Gift store’s new home is now the southeast corner on the familiar upper balcony at Larson’s.
“We are very excited to have an opportunity to recreate ourselves within Larson’s Home Furnishings,” Andy said. “Raquel and I feel very fortunate, and are proud, to have someone of the caliber of Bruce Larson open his arms to us.”
Siskiyou Artisans Gallery & Gifts is a blend of artist and crafters’ consignment shop and traditional gift store. “It is our intention to provide a full time outlet for local and regional artists and crafters who have taken their business and product beyond what is typical,” Andy said.
“Being artists ourselves, we have the utmost respect for all artists and crafters,” Andy continued. “We understand the emotional investment there is in handmade merchandise and artwork.”
Along with their consignment model, they also have the gift aspect of the business. There is a significant gift presence within the store. “It became clear how important it is to provide a wide variety of products to keep the customers coming in and coming back,” Andy said. “It helps to sell consigners’ products by increasing the volume of people coming in contact with their product, as well as making the customer’s experience within the store a good one.”
Siskiyou Artisans provides high-quality functional pottery and wood serviceware, Asian style serviceware, myrtlewood cutting boards, oils and oil burners, hand painted glass or higher-end locally blown glass, cast iron knick-knacks, wine accessories, bistro tables and chairs, a wide range of wind chimes from small tinkle chimes to very large aluminum cathedral chimes, and geologic treasures that include the rocks their customers have grown to love. For wall art there is Raquel’s landscape photography, Paula Fong Illustrations, impressionistic watercolor, and 2-d metal work from People of the Forest Studios.
“Most retail establishments will dedicate themselves to one model or another,” Andy said. “They are either all gift or all gallery. We offer a good selection of both. This keeps our product base dynamic, and provides a more stable foundation for our local/regional artists and crafters.”
Their partnership with Larson’s appears to be a perfect fit. “Now, to our customers’ shopping delight,” Bruce said, “in addition to home furnishings, our customers can purchase accessories and art and gifts for the home all under one roof…and with ample parking.”
Larson’s is open for business Monday-Saturday from 9am to 6pm and Sunday from 11am to 5pm. Call 779-3211 for more information.
